I remember one of those real service stations here in Accy when I was younger, just round the corner from where we lived. They were brilliant. Cyprus is beginning to grow on me from your descriptions. I can certainly see the appeal.

Hello to everyone. It's Christmas day here in Kallepeia, and we will be having a traditional lunch about 3-00pm here. So during the cooking / waiting period, I thought I would add some of today's pictures, from inside our home. There is Snow on the Troodos mountains, sunshine outside, and it's nice and warm inside with the heating to help out. Enjoy the pictures and the day. Best wishes. Trev..

Hi Trev,
Apologies for messing about with your great photos but - - - what is that thing that looks like a mine without its spikes?? It reminds me of a larger version of the roadside containers which hold rock salt for icy roads but I doubt very much that you would need one of those ;DIt might make a good guessing comp for the Bayweb

Good morning Coachman. The red terracotta pot that is in the picture is called a 'Pithary' It is a large earthenware jar that they used in past times to store wine in. There are still some ancient ones about that cost a lot of money. But most of the ones that we see today are replicas.
The white thing behind the Pithary is a Cypriot clay oven, no doubt a replica.
Have a nice day.... Trev..

Hello all.. Here we are at the beginning of another week and the weather outside is a bit dismal. It has been raining but is holding off at the moment. The outside temp: is 12.4c I have been out to the shop because we needed another gas bottle. Out here there is no mains gas. You go to the local shop, or the supermarket (like Asda) and you buy a gas bottle (refill) from there. We only use gas for the rings on the kitchen hob. You can have Gas Central Heating, in which case you would usually have a large gas tank, which would be filled periodically by a tanker. Yesterday the weather was fine and sunny and we had to go down to Paphos. Whist I was driving on the prom I took some pics to show that it was still 'Sleeveless' weather. Regards. Trev..

We have just had a walk in the Morecambe sunshine and it was lovely - no pictures, this was a serious trip out. Posting our traditional home made calendars to the family and to try and get a door seal for the washer. Trev - I like wearing a big coat so the warm weather is no good for me.

So, you had a threefold walk around Morecambe. It is a good and generous idea to distribute home made calenders. And I hope that you got a washer door seal. I used to get things like that from the appliance shop at the top of Queen street.
But of course the third reason for your walk around was to spot the red doorway!!. ;D
We need big jackets here in the winter. But for the middle 6 months of the year it is almost guaranteed wall to wall sunshine.
Have a nice evening.. Trev..

We went to the appliance shop on Euston Road. They had one which looks like the right one but I need to take the old one off to check. It's another reason to wear my big coat again - mmmm. Not the whole truth cus there was some mulled wine to be had when we got back. We are still in Christmas mode and still eating turkey but I like it, especially when it is still juicy.

Yes I know the shop you mean. The man who owns it could talk the hind legs off anything. But he is a helpful guy. He used too change the electrics on washing machines to suit the power on ships at Heysham. Good luck with the boot. Trev..

Hi all. I just thought I would pop on and put on 2 pics, and pop off again. These were taken on the same day I took the 'sleeveless' pics, but not by me. Its too cold up there. Regards. Trev..

Hi All. I was going to put some more pictures on this thread. But when I scrolled down this last page ( and it may be others as well). I noticed that the pics I put on were not available. This is totally my fault because I had a message from Flickr to say that I was reaching my limit and would I like to pay for a professional account. Being.... careful..... with money I decided NO!! I then deleted a lot of pics to leave me more room to put more on. BUT I NOW REALISE THAT IT WILL HAVE DELETED ALL / MOST OF THE PICTURES THAT I HAVE EVER POSTED, ON ANY THREAD. ALL I CAN SAY IS SORRY BUT I CANNOT PUT THEM BACK NOW.
Sorry Trev..
