There are some odd attitudes in Morecambe. A group (10) of us went to the Honey Tree for a meal a couple of years back. It was a sunny evening so after, we went for a wander up the prom to the Broadway thinking it would be nice to sit outside and have a drink. Wrong; Snotty barman says they only serve residents, I told him I was glad his business was doing so well that they could turn down money from a group of decent professional folk. Thinking it was a fluke we tried again a few weeks later only to be refused again.
Haven't been back since.
I have never been in the Pier but it sounds good to us.

Coachman and I made a trip up to Morecambe this evening and did a bit of a recce. We finally decided The Pier up near the Clock Tower would be ideal. I shall make a proper announcement about it in the morning when I can think more clearly. Ahhhh!!! So you tested the liquid that they were selling then. Trev.. Well, yes, we tested the coke.

Sadly they haven't got a bar (not an operational one anyway). They have a front garden area though which has a stunning view over the bay too. I keep hinting slightly at them to join this grooup, I e mailed Caroline to confirm my booking, and gave a link to this site. We had a chat with them last night and they seem like a really nice couple. They did suggest we try next door but the lady there sid we could only use the bar if invited by a resident. She suggested The Cumberland View but they have quiz nights on Thursdays - eventually by a process of elimination we arrived at The Pier. I can't understand places like The Broadway turning custom away in this present economic climate either Keith, unless there are byelaws which do not permit them to serve non-residents..

Both Caroline and Pat are really nice and making a go of the Morecambe Bay Guest House. I've been going there for almost 10 years, and rarely been happier. I almost feel as if the hotel is my second home!

We have been served there before but the rules seem to have been changed. They may have had problems with groups of rowdy Accrington coach drivers so have made the residents only rule.
Some people (Caroline & Pat) are in their ideal profession and nothing is too much bother to them and it is nice to see them doing well.
We stay at a B&B in Eccles when we are visiting the Lowry, the service is great, the rooms are basic but very clean, the price is right, it is handy for the Lowry (via tram) and the breakfast is out of this world.

I'll pass on your regards to them, might even ask them to join us!
