Merry Christmas to all the members and visitors who pop in from time to time to check if we are still breathing.
The good news is that the world didn't end yesterday, as predicted by the doom and gloom merchants. It seems to me that these rumours are just an excuse for the Druids and the great unwashed to go to stone circles and sacred places and get their kit off. I feel the Summer Solstice is a better option for that caper but what do I know about lay lines?
If you have enjoyed 2012 half as much as we have, then we will have enjoyed it twice as much as you.
Good Health and Happiness for 2013

Too much spare time, if you ask me. Time that could be better spent with an axe.
When you have a Reluctant Hiker in your midst, you have to do presents. The other one is as bad and she is 27. We have just got back from doing our shopping - that should be us sorted till after Christmas.

Ha ha - sounds like you had a ball! Sadly, I was not the guy, otherwise Bayweb would be flooded (excuse the pun) with pictures. I nearly got my feet wet, back in September, when the Red Arrows were here. Picked a spot away from the crowds by Bare Boating Lake and thought I would have time to take photos. All was going well until I heard a faint splashing sound, that was the water lapping round my boots. Time for a hasty retreat. I went back a couple of days later and did a time lapse video but I need to do it again cus it was spoilt by some kids crabbing with their Dad. 5 minutes earlier I had been stood on the other side of the boating lake, directly over the top of the 'tidal' sign. I will post a link to the time lapse video when I get round to doing it - trouble is, I have to take a picture every 10 seconds, for 2 hours to get the right effect and it is just too cold and wet out there at the moment.

Merry Xmas from Pompey. I've managed to bag 4 nights Half-Board at The Strathmore between 21-25 January for £99 each. Included in that is return coach travel from Pompey, a day in the Lakes including a trip on Lake Windermere (brrr!), half day to Lancaster and Barton Grange, and 4 drinks vouchers per person per day. Can't stay at home for that.

Barons Bargains - Is that where the bags of nuts and balloons, my Mum waxes so lyrical about, were purchased from just after the war?

Barons Bargains - Is that where the bags of nuts and balloons, my Mum waxes so lyrical about, were purchased from just after the war? No no no. You're Mum may not have been in this shop. they sold washing machines and fridges etc. In other words, White Goods. Actually they are still listed here.... www.locatrade.com/uk/Morecambe/Discount-Centres/Barons-BargainsIt is or was the shop in the middle of this picture.. But on street view it is up for sale so it may not be there now. Trev..
