Hello there. My name is Mike and I lived in Morecambe from the age of 4 till about 20. The place used to be one great place. It had two piers, the Winter Gardens was awesome all those years back! It had frontier land and the small fairground behind the winter gardens where I worked for a few years spinning the waltzers lol and posing to all the holiday makers! The old outdoor figure eight pool that used to be near the Midland Hotel was good to! I spent many a happy hour there with my mum. During my teens Morecambe was a great place to go out. I used to start in the Pier, the head down Queen Street to The Masons Arms, then the Bradford and the Joiners then over to the Chieftain! Was tipsy by this time! Then we used to hit the prom, The Kings Arms, Charlstons and a few others I can't remember! We used to finish the night off in Pacha's and have a great time !
As I have been going back nearly every other week to see my mum, I think Morecambe did go through a bad spell but over the last 10 years the place is looking great! One of the nicest promenades around for miles! Great gardens and a lovely beach that once used to all pebbles! I get more impressed every time I go over ! Now the Midland Hotel has finally been finished lets hope the Winter Gardens raise enough money to get that sorted out after all these years of being left to rot ! One lovely building ! And I own a plank lol ! (Please buy one to help get this place renovated quicker) See the link below:

If you do visit Morecambe hit the Grove Restaurant on Pedder Street for a roast beef dinner and to finish off some home made ice cream from Lewis's on the Prom! I always have two when i go it's that nice lol !
Well glad to see people are taking and interest in Morecambe, it is one lovely seaside town if you don't look at all the empty shops.
My father who died 7 years ago had a lot to do with helping regenerate Morecmabe and Heysham, he helped with the Eric Morecambe statue and his name is proudly on show engrave in the paving stones there! One lovely man and truly missed !
Be back soon so keep chatting people.
Would love to see some historic photo's posted of the OLD Morecambe if anyone has some ?
Cheers Mike.
