A new restaurant always has its teething troubbles and whilst we enjoyed the food it was slow to arrive.
5 of us had starters and tapas with drinks and total bill was only £120.
Only advice is don't be in a rush to eat, relax and enjoy the location/occasion.

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question, does anyone know what happened to Chorizo?
I spent a few days in Morecambe this week and it looks like a great little business that someone just set up and walked away from one night leaving everything behind.
I have found out that it was, or is still maybe, owned by the same person who opened up the Costa Coffee franchise further down the front and I know that it only opened in July last year but does anyone know anymore?
Thanks.

I have never seen it open and there were some notices suggesting it may be for sale.
I never really understand these English versions of Tapas bars, The Royal is the same in Lancaster. Tapas are meant to be tasty little snacks which you eat over the course of a night whilst enjoying drinks and conversation. In England, you order loads of them at once, eat them like a big meal and fail to enjoy the individual flavours of each dish.
There is a fabulous Tapas Bar on Malaga docks but it is a bit far to go for an evening.

Thanks Accykeef
I spoke to the lady who set up Chorizo this morning and she says she doesn't have the time to oversee it as she has other businesses in the North West - one of which is the Costa coffee franchise further along the fornt in Morecambe. Seems a genuine enough reason so I'm looking into it further.
I would want to change the style to more of a coffee shop / restaurant type place though as I know nothing about Tapas. Anyone think Morecambe needs such a place?
As for Malaga docks, who needs that when you can have Morecambe in the sun . . . . If only we could rely on that though.
Cheers.

But Malaga docks has more of a sort of Spanish feel to it.
I can't help but think that the minimum a cafe/ tapas/ bar business on the front needs, is a big bay window. Hart's restaurant is a good example but they don't seem to do much with the upper floors.
Food and drinks with a view. The Council should force sea front property owners to keep their frontages looking spick and span like Blackpool Council do. Some of the properties on the front are a disgrace and give the town its undeserved 'run down' image.

I noticed last night what looked like an empty hotel on Marine Road with a beautiful fully glazed sun lounge across the front with great views over the bay.
It's such an asset is a view like that, people really need to take advantage of it.

I have been in some apartments on Victoria Terrace (next to the Town Hall) a few times and the view of the Bay and Lake District are fantastic. If I lived there the windows would be enormous and my desk would be next to one.

But what do you think... Honestly. Do you think that especially through the winter months on Morecambe promenade, that it can flourish as a going concern.

I walked past yesterday afternoon and it looked wonderful but was unfortunately, empty. Whether it can survive I do not know, there are many businesses on the sea front which keep going despite being empty most of the time. How the amusement arcades make money is a mystery to me but most of them have been here for many years.

Maybe it could do with a bit more publicity?
If we ever get round to trying it out we'll let you all know what we think. If our last visit to Morecambe is anything to go by though we won't even have enough time to get there! ;D

Willow, maybe you could go on a day coach trip without your OH being the driver.

It wouldn't be a bad idea - apart from the fact that the only coach trips that seem to go there are the ones he drives! ;D
I remember when I was a littl'un that there used to be regular coach trips to the seaside every weekend in the summer. You just booked a ticket and off you went. Now the only ones there are are organised group bookings by clubs or suchlike.
