A good selection and well presented menu with attentive service. Been 3 times since it opened and not yet been in least disappointed with our choices.
Enjoy

I used to like going to this restaurant before it was the Curry Leaf. I can't remember what it was called then but it was an English restaurant and did a lovely Lamb Henry. Haven't tried it since it became Indian. For those who don't know where we mean, it's at 223 Marine Road, on the corner where there is usually a handbag stall and a rock shop.

I think it was called Fletchers before it was The Curry Leaf, we popped in for a menu on Saturday but unfortunately they had run out and are hoping to get some more in next week.
Looks ok though and I will certainly give it a try, we usually use Morecambe Tandoori which have been the best so far IMHO.
Cheers

Hello
The people who own the Curry Leaf on the prom also own The Masala on Heysham Road. They used to operate The Bombay Brasserie on Oxcliffe Road but this closed down due to being refurbished. It hasn't yet been finished.
The food at the Curry Leaf is excellent and the staff are very attentive and very pleasant. Prices are reasonable and they don't mind if you share dishes.
Definitely worth a try.

Do they do anything for husbands who don't like Indian food? In fact none of my family do which makes life quite challenging for a curry lover like me.

I think it was called Fletchers before it was The Curry Leaf, This sounds like the old "Barry's cafe". The descendants of the original owners have let it out to tenants for some years. It was started by Arthur Fletcher, and named in honour of his twin brother Barry who died young. Arthur would have been in his mid fifties in 1970. I worked there as a student in the late 60's & early 70's. It had kiosks opening on to the promenade selling hot dogs/ hamburgers, ice cream & fruit/rock. They also had a separate kiosk selling soft nougat. On the forecourt, they had a guy shouting "find your correct weight" plus gypsy Sarah's caravan, and a mock auction. It had good business from : Petrol tankers en route from Trimpell in the early mornings Fishermen from the stone jetty Holiday makers exploring the promenade Sun worshippers venturing off the beach Showgoers exiting from the various cinemas, theatres, etc. Peter

I know it's silly nostalgia but that;s what I miss these days -those kiosks on the front with Gypsy fortune tellers and various other things. I remember once there was somewhere that enticed you to go in and see a real mermaid. I have no idea what the flippin thing was they had in there - some sort of dead fish but it was large and decidedly whiffy.
There were little kiosks where you could book coach trips too for days out - Windermere, Arnside & Silverale, Holker Hall & Cartmell Priory.

We had a really good meal at The Curry Leaf. I am extremely fussy regarding Indian food as it often has too much oil for my tastes. The Curry Leaf serves well very cooked, tasty Indian food - not at all oily.
It gives the temperamental Far Pavillion a run for its money anyway.

Went for Sunday all-you-can-eat buffet week before last. Keeps the wife happy - excellent - we went about 4pm had the place to ourselves, everything freshly cooked, great starters, etc, tried hard, but just couldn't finish my Peshwari nan.
Only (slight) downside: I was customer number 2 when they opened so the waiters recognise me (regular eat-ins and takeaways!) and I was spotted by one of them leaving Fast and Furious 5 the other day. Good news is he thought the film was great and I manged to choke off saying what a load of rubbish it was! Jason
