I used to go camping at Knight Stainforth Hall, near Settle years ago. The River Ribble runs along the bottom of it and at certain times of year the salmon used to leap up the waterfalls there, on their way to spawn. Mrs Keef has never seen this so my question is ......
Where and when is a good place to go locally to watch this spectacle?

Hi Keith. I certainly hope that you can find a good viewing point. I looked on the computer and found that the best times are between October and December... www.thecumbriaway.info/route_stage5.htmAnd this is mentioned in the article.... "Holme Head Salmon Ladder - A fish-ladder has been built at Holme Head to enable salmon, returning after their swim across the Atlantic from Greenland, to return to their breeding-grounds. The best time to see the salmon leaping up the weir is between October and December." You see how sensible I CAN be. Trev..

I would have thought that although it is a different place than my post, that the viewing times would be the same... "The best time to see the salmon leaping up the weir is between October and December." Trev..
