On Saturday was our church 'Stake' sports day - which meant groups of people from churches in Blackburn, Burnley, Rossendale and Chorley were competing at Witton Park in Blackburn. I hadn't intended to go for the whole day. In fact I hadn't originally intended to go at all but there was some confusion with transport and I ended up going along with our youngest daughter to make sure she got to the right place OK.

I certainly didn't intend competing in anything, and absolutely no way, no how, not at all, never was I dreaming of even considering the 5,000m!

So how did that happen then?

OK so I didn't win

but amazingly I wasn't last either and I did actually lap somebody. I got us an extra point and our team won.

I feel sure they would have won anyway without my point! ;D

Oh but boy am I suffering now. Achy bones? Nope.....................
As I hadn't even planned on being there, I didn't have any sun lotion with me and despite it being a very showery sort of a day the running track at Witton Park is a bit of a sun trap and I have a very red nose and a forehead which is threatening to peel

I think I probably glow in the dark!

;D Funny post scrip to this. I have recently signed up for this 'fit4life' malarky mainly wanting to lose weight and also to find excercises which I can do with my wonky knees. Yesterday I went for a physical assessment and she put me on the treadmill saying "Just try 5 minutes or so and we'll see how you get on." 20 minutes later I was still going strong and thought I'd better put her out of her misery and tell her that I'd done the 5,000m on Saturday! ;D

Just found this photo that my daughter took of some mad woman on the running track!
