Good evening all. Well for a good number of weeks now I have been thinking, should I or should I not download Google Chrome. Well yesterday around lunchtime I downloaded it, and have (mostly) been using it ever since. Do I prefer it to IE7...... Yes I believe that I do. It is without doubt faster. It has tabs at the top of the screen so I think that must be 'tabbed browsing' I have tried it with about 8 ( busy) pages open, with no sign of slowing at all.
Problems?.......... Well yes a couple I suppose. The occasional pic won't appear, and the spell check is some times a laugh. As I was typing this in Google about Google. it said the correct spelling was Goggle. But it does have an 'Add to dictionary' button.
So, I think I will be running this for a while. IE7 is still there if needed.
Regards. Trev..

I need a reliable browser but also one which the majority of people use. No point in designing stuff which works perfectly on one browser and looks like a dog's breakfast on some of the others. IE7 is not fully 'standards compliant' but as most people use that, it is best to get it working in that first.
I will install it for test purposes but will stick with IE7 for the time being. You say that some pictures don't appear - why? None of the spell checkers work properly because it is a well known fact that Americans can't spell and they invented text messaging to cover up the fact.
I think the Spanish have got it right, they put a question mark at the start of a sentence, so you know it is a question before you start reading.

Next time I have trouble with a pic I will try to make a note of it, and then I can report what happened or not as the case may be. It is certainly a fair bit quicker at everything so it suits me better.. Regards. Trev..

I have not yet played with this one and I have to admit I like playing with different browsers but I always seem to come back to Firefox. I like the little foxy and the coloured tabs and the fancy sqiggles I can have as background to my toolbars.

I've got most topical browsers installed but still go back to IE8 which, in compatibility mode, is fine for all the sites I visit. The personal mode is especially good when googling and you're not sure what sites you are being directed to (even the most simple innocent searches can end up in the wrong place).
Mozilla is good for it's add-ons such as fire ftp.
Chrome and Safari? Great unless you do online banking which simply gets screwed up - I've got 7 online accounts for various things and none of them like either of these browsers.

Hi Gnasher. My wife downloaded 'Google Chrome' but it lasted less than 24 hrs with her. She didn't like it and has removed it from her computer. She asked me where the 'print' button was. I didn't know but I looked it up. You have to add 'Print' to the Bookmarks.!!!! However I am still using it and hope that it doesn't screw my Internet banking up........unless it Adds to my account . Cheers. Trev..

Unfortunately they've neither added to or removed from my accounts but they do screw up the screen layouts, hide links, overlap texts, etc.

Because I am a bit of a dunce with computers, I hesitate to suggest things.... But if there is overlapped text, can it not be corrected via the Ctrl button and the scroll wheel.

Overlapping text is usually caused by the way a browser renders a page. All pages should be written to a strict standard but there are a lot of sites out there which do not meet the standard. The silliest part of it is that IE6 / IE7 do not follow the standards completly so you get pages looking different when comparing different browsers.
The biggest proble, for those interested is with div padding. Compatible browsers add the padding size to the width of the div where others do not. When this occurs, the screen displays ok in a non copatible such as IE7 but som divs wrap to the next line in browsers such as Firefox as the page is effectively too wide. It is all very frustrating when you are working oon a complicated layout. Add in the fact that layouts for these pesky mobile devices require a totally diffent layout and it makes you want to take up knitting.
