Bad news for those that rely on the factory for their income but I agree with esm about the stink!!

I think that everyone will feel for the employees. I know that an incident like this is bad for the owners as well, but one assumes that they will be insured. It is hard to see anything other than redundancies at best, or maybe lay off's. Either way the workforce are in a vulnerable position.

It still stank at tea time, and an "Jobs worth" security bloke wouldn't let me get any decent pics, I had to cross over the other side of westgate and was blocked from going down white gate The thing that got my back up was I knew two of the guys on scene and they said it would be OK for me to go  Ian |

I didn't even know there was a chicken factory there and knew nothing about the fire until Monday evening!
Was it on Whitegate?

Hi trev, it had All been eaten by the time I found out about it, They had a Mobile canteen unit from Preston hq doing chicken kebab for crew only Hi Keith, It was formerly Gotts, a well known "smelly" factory on westgate behind the tyre place just turn right as you come of westgate, watch the "Vid" on the lancs evening post link I posted it will give you a better idea. Still not sure where it is.
I deal with 'The Plastic Man' on the right hand side near the top, of Whitegate but I am not familliar with the 2 Sisters.

It sounds quite nasty for those living close by and obviously bad news for the workers in already difficult times.

You can see most of the Fire damage from westgate just behind the tyre place, you cant see much once you turn right of white gate, Just turn right and when you get to the private road on your left which belongs to "Stagecoach" you are Behind the factory  And it is a processing plant Ian |

It will be a bit grim for the workers if they end up being sent to Sunderland or Stowmarket.  I hope for their sake that something gets sorted out for the Morecambe location. |
