Yay! Equality! I've never understood the idea that men should get to go to the loo for fee when women have to pay. I'm glad the market ones are still free but maybe that will change eventually. Here in Accy we have 2 free public loos but the general trend across the country seems to be for these 20p ones now. At least they are cleaner than a lot of the free open ones. Mind you I am a bit wary of the automatic locking ones which either seem to not wish to lock, or not wish to open again afterwards and let me out!

I am not against the idea of men paying to go to the loo's. Hopefully it would mean that they could be kept i a better condition than is the 'norm' in the UK.
There are not many public toilet blocks here in Cyprus, but they are usually quite clean and free from vandalism.
When we first arrived here we had to start finding all the stores that had toilets in for the public, and it turned out that there are quite a few. But here it does not seem as taboo as in the UK to use the toilets i the building that you are in. Ones that I have used........ Hotels (obviously) Banks, Insurance offices, Hairdressers, Supermarkets.
It always amazed me that the planning people in the UK let large stores be built WITHOUT toilet facilities for the public. B&Q for example, although some larger ones do provide facilities. But what about Carpet warehouses and MFI. Planning need to change their ideas.
Regards. Trev..

I don't mind paying 20p if they are kept clean and decent to use. It has got to be an improvement on the old toilet block. That was just disgusting.
Has anyone seen the public toilets in Heysham village. They are awful.

Many places are cutting back on cleaning staff and this is one area which suffers. We regularly stop for a 'free comfort break' at Gargrave when travelling over to York and up until recently they have been spotless. The last couple of times they have been disgusting. I wouldn't mind paying 20p for a clean place so I suppose it is relative.
Reminds me of a trip we took, a few years ago, from Belfast to Dublin. The toilet on the bus was broken so we sat cross legged as we entered Dublin. When we eventually got off at the bus station, things were getting desperate and a quick dash to the barriers brought reality home and a charge of 10 Euros. The price wasn't the issue, we did not have any Euros on us as we had come straight from the UK (£) to Belfast(£) and caught a bus to Wicklow via Dublin and paid in, you have guessed it £'s! I explained the problem to the attendant who in typical friendly Irish style said that I could get in for free if I could jump the barrier. I was over before he changed is mind. Mrs. Keef faired better as the barrier to the ladies was broken and let her in for nothing.
