Hi All. Here is my find for today...'Google street view' It was launched only today in the UK. I think there are only 25 cities that are covered at the moment, a few of which I have been trying out today. Here is the link . maps.google.co.uk/help/maps/streetview/index.htmlHere is a picture that I 'grabbed' from Manchester. Have a good time with it. Sorry no Accy, or Lancy. Cheers. Trev..

I heard that this was happening a couple of years ago, from a technophobe. I will believe the end result when I see it. Their sat. images are many years out of date for Google Earth so don't hold your breath. My prediction is that Morecambe will have a street tour very soon - watch this space.

I saw this on the news tonight. The lack of Accy doesn't surprise me but I would hope that Lancaster and Morecambe show up eventually.

Here is the puzzling list of 25 cities...
BRITISH CITIES CAPTURED BY GOOGLE:
ENGLAND: Southampton, London, Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford, Norwich, Coventry, Birmingham, Nottingham, Derby, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Scunthorpe, York, Newcastle SCOTLAND: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen WALES: Swansea, Cardiff NORTHERN IRELAND: Belfast, Lisburn
However although Bradford is not listed in the 25, it has got Street View.

I never noticed that. I wondered what you were on about!! I just cut and pasted it.
So, unlikely as it may seem it should read 'S c u n t h o r p e'
Regards. Trev..
The sensor thingy did it again so I have tried to beat it

Hi all. I know that there has been a lot in the papers about 'Google Street view', and not all people are in favour of it. But to my mind it show no more, or no less than what anyone could see walking down a street. I have used it to map out my route to an address at the far side of Glasgow. Because I doubt the car I hire will have Sat Nav. Good Idea I thought. Cheers. Trev..

That seems like a really useful use for it. You can spot landmarks and recognise them when you meet them in reality.
