We are in the process of planning next years holiday - which is a celebration for both of us - and we are planning something different. Part of the holiday may involve travelling through Italy, from Milan(in the North) to Brindisi (in the South). I have been looking into a rail pass and came across this classic bit of confusion. It is not just the UK where they couldn't plan a party in a brewery. The passes are intended for visitors, not Italians - that seems fair. In their blurb they state Then they say OK so why can we not have one because England, apperently, is no longer in Europe

Ah it doesn't say Great Briain isn't in Europe - only that it isn't part of the Eurail Nework.
So could you get a ticket or not?

I am sure we could get tickets but at the moment the Italian leg is the problem. The only workable train time is an over night from Milan. From experience, it would be safer walking through Baghdad in a Union Jack Tee shirt than sleeping while the Italian Gypsies help themselves to our stuff. Explaining why your rucksack contains a couple of loaded mouse traps to a sleepy Italian policeman has never been an easy task but to hear a gypsy scream while their hand is in yor bag is kind of satisfying. I am not usually in this mind frame but they have no right to be robbing us.
We need to work out a day train to Brindisi but we have over 12 months to plan it so something will turn up.
