Good Morning Keith. Well not much to go on with that picture.
So I am going to have a stab in the dark, and go with my first thought.
As to where it is I think it is on the Promenade, but I think you may want us to say what it is.
I believe that it is an old sewer vent pipe, to let gas escape high in the air.
Cheers. Trev..

You've got me stumped with that one. It looks like something left over from something which is no longer there.

As to what it is - I do not have a clue but where, ahh that is another question. It is a hidden gem I spotted years ago, thinking it would make a good photo quiz question. It is next to a road, it is not near water, it is at least 15ft. high (thats over 5m in new money) and many people will have passed it over the years.

I think that it could be a cast iron sewer vent pipe. There are or were a few about Morecambe. As you can imagine in the sewers there is an accumulation of gas, which could be dangerous if it was not vented from the system. A bit like the highest pipe on the UK houses. www.tunbridgewells.gov.uk/section.asp?catid=1008&docid=2528Regards. Trev..

This could turn out to be the longest running quiz on the forum.

What's needed is a 'pipe spotter' in Morecambe. ;D

Should I give the answer to this one or wait for someone to find it?

I have searched through a lot of Morecambe Pictures, but have not managed to find a pole / pipe with an ornate top like that one.

A clue first If you travel into Morecambe from Lancaster by train, you may just spot this.

Good Morning Keith. The original question that you posed was 'where is this' Reading your clue, and searching my memory banks (a few seconds), the first thing that comes to mind is that it is on Bare lane. Somewhere between the railway crossing and the old institute.
Cheers. Trev..
