It's ages since I last went skating and I seem to remember spending a lot of time on my rear end and going home with a damp bum! ;D
Does synthetic ice have the same wetness?

The ice is real but it is on a slippy synthetic surface. We will have a look down but there will be no chance of either one of us having a go. I would need some more legs for balance. We saw one in Manchester last year and it looked like fun, if you are the brave type.

Yes last year it was located in the West End gardens but isn't that the area which has just been done up? So presumably they have had to put the ice rink somewhere else.

The 'ice rink' bathed in afternoon sun. Unlike others I have seen, there is no ice on this one. The floor is made up of teflon tiles with some polish on them. Not that it matters to me, I will not be going on there (am I the only one who looks at this and thinks 'paddling pool'?)

Keith said..."(am I the only one who looks at this and thinks 'paddling pool'?) "
No Keith you are definitely not. I don't know what size I expected but I thought it would have been a lot bigger than that.
So, you have not had a go on it then. And I take it for granted that Willow will not be on there, unless she is good on one leg. I wonder if we shall hear a 'first hand report' of how good it is, or otherwise. But it is pleasing to see that someone will put on these ventures, Profit is not a nasty word. No profit, no next time.

They say there is room for 75 people on there at once. With so many on at once it would be hard to fall down and even harder to get up As you say trev, at least they are doing something. It will be interesting to see what other attractions appear round it. I will try to get down and take some night shots but I might have to take my step ladders to get a high vantage point.

So if there is no actual ice in this ice rink what are the skates like?
A slight tangent - has the side wall of Rita's been painted or is that just an effect of the light?
Oh and ....... no, I don;'t think I'll be doing any one-legged skating on there personally. I'll give it a miss.

Afternoon sunshine made it light up like a ............. lighting up thing. Skates look like proper ice skates but have a teflon strip on them. I am not risking getting too close to take pictures of people's feet so you just have to guess It was on the news tonight that they have a similar rink in Lytham, but theirs had a tarpaulin roof over it.
