There used to be a dance studio on Lancaster Road in what looked like an old disused chapel didn't there? I think it was called Taylors. Has it moved elsewhere or just closed down? Is that a block of luxury apartments being built on the site now?

Yes, there was Isobel Taylor School of Dance at the Methodist Church but the church closed due to be in dangerous conditiong. The dance school were thinking of buying it but the Methodist society decided to auction of the building. The date was set for the auction but the next we knew, the place was sold to Daffodil homes whos owner (unlawfully) had the place demolish. I think the person who told the dmolition people to go ahead was fined for demolishing a listed building. Whats there now is a 3 story building with 5-7 apartments on each floor. Isobel Taylor I believe has moved to a site near the High School but Ive not seen exactly where, I was Carnforth Methodist Church property steward and I felt really sorry for Isobel Taylor. Hope that helps.

Thanks Tim that certainly does help. I'm quite shocked that someone had the nerve to demolish a listed building. I suppose they were working on the assumption that once it was gone there'd be nothing much anyone could do about it. I should jolly well hope that someone was fined for that.

I think they were fined about a millio pounds. I've also heard that they are smaller than planned so not as good as expected. Also, its going to cause a lot of traffic problems certainly with the people on Oxford Street. I love the name of the complex after the bloke was fined. It's called Oxford Court . I cant say much because I knew the man who owns the place. I went to school with him. How he got going I dont know. He's just a jumed up person who shouldnt and doesnt deserve to do well. In some way, I hope the cedit crunch gets him.

a million? Crikey! ;D I love the irony of the name too. Will there be enough parking space for all the potential residents? I can see how it could cause traffic problems too.

I doubt very much there will be enough parking places anywhere in Carnforth. The railway car park now costs and someone has some offices there taking half the car park away. We get mor houses but less parking.

Honesty is good for the soul, so they say Tim. I worked in Carnforth for a lot of years and passed it every day.
Regards. Trev..
