The wind has dropped a bit so it doesn't feel quite as cold. Still numbing my face though. Went onto the beach for the first time this year but didn't bother doing any paddling, well there was nowhere to leave my socks and boots was there. First glimpse of the sea and hopefully the Lakeland mountains, as I walk down Princes Crescent. View From the shelter Oyster catchers take flight Ventured onto the beach for a close up of the old breakwater The flowing tide Looking inland towards the Broadway Hotel an even closer close up of the breakwater Reflections into the sun How far have these pebbles travelled? The snow is just about visible on the Lakeland mountains Common gulls hoping I have food Looking back towards the promenade

Very nice pictures Keith, and it doesn't look as cold as you experienced. I give in re the 'where is this pebble from' quiz. The answer had better be good. I see on the second picture, that you have started abbreviating the descriptions. ie " View Form the shelter " I can see the View, and the Form, but I can't see the shelter? Stay warm. Trev..

I am fed up with this keyboard, it keeps spelling things wrong and missing important punctuation. I did threaten to take it outside and give it a drat good thrashing but it continues to defy me.
Re. the pebbles, I was being rhetorical with the question. I reckon they must start life in the Lake District somewhere and roll to the sea under the cover of darkness.

Perhaps you could go up into the lake district and put a special mark on one, Then you could see if it turns up on Morecambe beach. Trev..

At school we were told that many started out in Scandinavia as the moraine (sp?) under the glaciers of the last ice age. Once broken up, the actions of the tide made them rounder.

I know that the pebbles are rounded by the action of them rubbing together but to think that something so heavy can travel such distances, messes with my mind a bit.

Don't let them mess with your mind.. Concentrate, try to make your mind a blank. If it is blank they cannot steal anything from it.
