I'm setting off in 1hr to drive up to The Naples of the North. It will be 7 or so years since I was last there. I've allowed a few days to nostalgise (?) up there, then after doing various other things on the way home I will be back on the 24th June. So, if you see a French registered car in the Midland Hotel car park on Saturday night/Sunday morning it is not merely scruffy - it is an authentically dinged treasure of the French motor industry. I see the next 10 days weather forecast for Morecambe is pretty nostalgic, too. Peter

I hope that you have a good trip Peter. The poster is very interesting and I will look at it in more detail after saving it. EDIT... Although Peter is on his travels and may not see this for a while, on his poster I found this interesting. The Royalty theatre is a place I remember going to when I was a school. I went to see the production 'Toad of Toad Hall' The picture shows the theatre but not the surrounding streets which would have been very near indeed. The theatre has gone now of course and the streets also, in the name of progress of course. Cheers. Trev..

Am in a cheapo hotel next to the Dunkirk ferry terminal.
The Royalty was also a cinema and I took my first girlfriend to see Zorba the Greek there.
She wouldn't go near the back row !

Only just spotted this. You obviously have some sort of technology with you, so you may see this. Are you around for a beer at any point before you leave Naples?

That New Tower building looks awesome. Was it the world's biggest helter-skelter?
When we lived in Le Vesinet, just outside the Paris Peripherique, I had a little Peugeot 106...
Right-hand drive Central Paris (75) number plates. They earned respect! GB sticker Play-Up Pompey sticker in the back window

Home Sweet Home.
19 days, 4540km and lots done.
Minor problem is AC started to fail on the way up but it wasn't really a problem in Morecambe (14C), Lake District (11C), Harrow (20C), Brighton (22C), started to be uncomfortable on the Paris peripherique (25C and smokey). Today it was 20C - 25C between the house of horrors and the Millau Bridge. Then it got rather sticky with 35C around Beziers.
No help from the pool - it was 36C after removing the solar bubble cover.

Good grief, that photo shows a lot of detail which has been long since lost from the area. What year would that have been?

I never realised the tower looked like this. I'm very impressed. All I've seen before were pictures of a steel structure somewhat like Blackpool tower but a different shape. I wish there was still something like this in Morecambe. It looks like you could walk up it in a spiral. Was that possible does anyone know? Attachments:
