I have seen a few drunks on there but not rats:) What time of day did you see them? There are rats everywhere, I don't think they have particularly chosen Morecambe prom as there home of choice. I would imagine that the problem is much worse around the back of the fast food shops in the centre of town.

Rats on Morecambe prom multiplying fast, any one else seen them. I am not surprised at this. Going back to 40 or 50 years ago there always used to be rats living amongst the rocks at the stone jetty. Now of course there are many many more rocks all the way along the promenade, for them to make there homes in. I am not sure if there is more waste available for them nowadays. Certainly when rubbish was in bin bags that was inviting for them. Hopefully most rubbish is now in plastic bins. Trev..

I have noticed in the last two years. they seem to be more of them now . I have seen them in the day time and early evening on the Sandylands prom and on the battery car park and behind the Midland Hotel and on the stone Jetty.

There as always been as previously mentioned rats in the rocks on the Stone Jetty. Since the new sea defences they are now along most stretches of the promenade. We have seen quite a few few between Broadway and Happy Mount. A few years ago the council put traps down with poison in but these I believe were removed because of either vandalism and/or 'Elf & Safety concerns. Dave

I've only ever seen one in Morecambe but I nearly stood on one once in Great Harwood coming out of the bank. That is I was coming out of the bank, not the rat!
