Hi all. Tonight I have found a website which has thousands of old pictures of Lancashire towns. It is quiet well set out and includes Morecambe, Heysham, Bare, Bolton le sands, and Lancaster. Also for those who are interested, and I know there will be some... Hyndburn (Accrington) is in there as well. Have a good look around... www.historiclancashire.co.uk/category/morecambeTrev..

Thanks Trev.
I'll go through them with my grandad later. See if they bring back any memories for him.

I have been spending hours on there and not just Morecambe. In the back of my mind your grandad remembers the Elms and Bare. there are a few pictures of those places. Good luck. Trev..

Hi all. On the last evening of 2011 I am sat with my laptop on my knee, watching West life on TV. So I thought I would just include some more pictures from the albums of 'Old Pictures of Lancashire Towns'. Tonight, in no particular order, just six from Accrington. I hope some of you can recognise some of the places.... Enjoy them, and I will see you Next Year. Cheers. Trev..

I can't resist this web site with the old pictures on. I am still working my way through all the Morecambe ones. Some of the pictures I have seen before. But here are some that I found with a little bit of extra interest, at least for me. This first one is a general view of Morecambe promenade. But look how busy it is. And in the distance on the right is the old Midland Hotel again. Another promenade scene from roughly the same point as the last one but facing the other way. The main interest to me in this pic is the building to the right of the bandstand. It is what was there before the Burton's building was put in that place. I don't think I have seen it before, at least not as good a view. Again I have seen the view below many many times. The interest for me is the man pulling the advertising Barrow. It is difficult to imagine and out of work youngster doing a similar job today. Also people use to walk around with an 'A' board at the front and back of them. And can anyone remember the horse and cart advertising Heysham head.... I don't think I have ever seen this picture before. Yes I have seen the building when it was a station, but not with railings at the front instead of the stone walls. It certainly is an early view. Obviously this is one of the regular horse trams on Morecambe promenade. But it is one of the most close up pictures that I have seen. And finally we travel inland a little for the next picture of Regents Park. If you look to the far side Albert road is still to become 'built up' Cheers. Trev..
