Hello. I heard a rumour that the old Burger King site is being transformed into Frankie and Benny's, does anyone know if there is any truth in this? I hope so I think it would be good for Morecambe Cheers Lilac

I rather liked Burger King myself, better than McDonalds anyway, and was rather sad to see it gone when we went up there this summer. A Frankie and Benny's would be an excellent addition to the town. Pleeeeease keep McDonalds as far out as it now is! ;D
One of the local pubs should become a Pub & Carvery too that would be an inexpensive alternative eating place which I'm sure would go down well.

I have never been to a Frankie and Benny's must try it sometime. I must admit if I'd had the loud noisy experience as described in the Visitor I wouldn't have bothered staying long enough to place an order.

I saw in the Visitor where a number of people had been fined for staying over a 3 hour limit. Although I don't know that particular restaurant I would have guessed it to be at the 'fast food' end of the scale (but may be wrong) I would have guessed that 3 hours should be long enough for a 3 course meal.
However having said that, last Saturday (valentines day) we arrive at a taverna at 7-00 and left about 12-30.
There was impromptu music and two carafes of wine though to go with the meal!!

But that was a Taverna Trev and as you know, just like a Bodega bar in Spain, it is considered extremely rude to leave before the host has fallen asleep. ;D
As for Frankie and Benny's, not my idea of a night out and to consider staying there for over 3 hours fills me with dread.

You can get some good VFM meals here at many tavernas But with the financial downturn which is now widespread, many places are being pressurised into reducing prices. Some are doing BOGOF meal deals. Others are giving a percentage discount on certain days. The one we go to regularly has only been open a week or so and his prices are the same as last year. Certainly holiday makers are as yet thin on the ground, and the ex pat community are being affected by the exchange rate so the eating out times are getting less. No doubt many of the eating establishments in the UK will be having a hard time as well. From what I read of the cut backs and job loses, Mr and Mrs average will have less to spend. Even fish and chips for a family can amount to a large amount. One place here is advertising fish and chips at the same as about uk£9-00. That's a bit dear for me.
I have looked on the Frankie & Benny's website........ I think I will give it a miss when I am over.
Cheers. Trev..

It all depends on how quickly you are served. Pizza Hut is supposed to be fast food but I have been in one particular PH where we've had to wait ages for them to even come and take our order (despite having been given the menu whilst we waited outside in a queue. Then we waited ages again to be served with the food. If you order 2 courses you can fall asleep waiting for the 2nd one to arrive!

Well I like a nice pizza. But if I had to wait too long for any meal it would be my last visit.

About 4 years ago I had booked for 4 of us to go to the Longlands just outside Carnforth. We turned up at the allotted time and were told that they were busy and to go and get drinks from the bar whilst we waited for a table. Well, we waited and waited. Eventually we were seated at a table and given the menu. Again after a long wait someone took our order. BUT... we waited and waited for the first course. By this time we had had enough. We got up and walked out, telling them why on the way to the door. We got a takeaway in Carnforth and went home. It spoilt the whole evening and we never went back there. Regards. Trev..

I endured the Pizza Hut wait because I had promised my daughter we would go there and she'd built herself up to the idea of a pizza. Doesn't encourage me to want to go again though. Many years ago we were in a pub on the banks of the River Ribble (lovely view) but got so weary waiting for our meal to arrive that we just got up and walked out.
We've had some fun going out for a meal but the funniest was one Christmas holiday time when we went out for a drive between Christmas and New Year and stopped off at "The Friendly Inn" for a meal. We had told the girls to be on their best behaviour as this wasn't your common fast food outlet this was a posh restaurant As we sat waiting for the main course to arrive a woman burst through the doors and sent the Christmas tree flying.
She then stood by the door to the kitchen shouting at the chef, who it transpired was her husband. She was apparently cheesed off with him working during the Christmas holiday and leaving her at home with young children. The owner/manager gently tried to usher her back outside and then came round to the tables to appologise for the kerfuffle - when in she burst again shouting in the direction of the kitchen "You're always in the bleep bleep pub!" to which a reply came from the kitchen "I'm the ruddy chef woman! Its my job!"
She then stormed off out to the car park and proceeded to dump clothes out of her car onto the ground - we could still hear her shouting "If you love it so much why don't you live here!" By this time our food had arrived and my youngest daughter, calmly cutting a piece of meat and raising it to her mouth muttered, "So much for a posh restauarant."
