Hi Peter.
Re "Should be refilled by tonight (45 tons of water takes a little time !)"
No doubt it costs a bit of money also. By the way you haven't said what you filled the crack with, And when you had done that did you paint it or put a sort of patch on

The pool has a fibreglass shell. Think - boat with water on the inside !
I filled it with marine standard white chopped strand epoxy resin filler.
I've got irrigation water at € 0.33 per m3 so 45 m3 is about €15.
And the garden has been well watered !

Were you standing in the pool, to do the grinding?

Were you standing in the pool, to do the grinding? Yes - couldn't see any alternative. I also drilled holes at each end of the crack. I was very careful ! Peter

I turned the water off overnight and have just tested the levels. A close call ? I'll leave it longer. Peter

All sorted - well done, Looks very inviting. The three timed pictures tell the story, no drop on water level but the grass is longer. Any idea why it wouls crack like that? I remember it used to happen with our canoes but that was usually a result of a collision with a solid object.

I remember it used to happen with our canoes but that was usually a result of a collision with a solid object. There were some warning signs, in retrospect. You can feel the beams in the bottom of the pool with your feet. One of the skimmer bodies appeared to have risen about 0.5cm - actually the pool had dropped ! The shell sits on a bed of sand and over nearly 20 years I guess it has settled slightly. We've had a dry year which may have played a part. Fibreglass is normally pretty tough stuff and boat hulls "move" quite considerably without problem. One of the holes I drilled was about 5mm deep, the other 2mm suggesting a weak spot in the lay up. I wonder what will happen when it rains ? Water still in place - I'll take a last pic this afternoon. Peter

I don't know if you have been following the exploits of my flagging but I was advised by various 'experts' to bed the flags on 3 inches of sand. I was concerened that the sands of time shift so why not the sand supporting something. I opted instead to make a job for myself and put concrete under all of the flags. My theory is that the concrete may still sink but the flags and probably the house will stay together, even if they end up at some odd angle.
That pool doesn't half look inviting but you appear to have more clouds than we do, at the moment. Best to stay dry, drink beer and wait for the proper sunshine before checking out the crack in the pool close up.

The terrace has also sunk in places. It is a job for someday.
The sad news is that the "old" water was 30C and the new water was only 28C. Still very pleasant.
Last thing will be to add floculant to eliminate the very fine dust the water picks up on its way from Switzerland !
