Were they taken from the end of the north roundhead, Dave?
There was a barrier preventing access to the end the last couple of times I've been up there. Would I be correct in assuming that it's now been removed?

It was nice when you could drive and park your car up there, and watch the ships entering and leaving the port, I also noticed a lot of the crash barriers have been removed.

Is it safe to ignore it, or do I have to be sneaky and keep an eye out for marauding security guards?

There is a road barrier at the end of the Centrica (British Gas) site. On the North Roundhead there is a fence to stop people going onto the far end of the roundhead which I assume is still unsafe after being hit by one of the ships. I can't see any reason to try and get by it, you can see all you need to without. Dave

Ah, I see. I was under the impression that I wouldn't be able to get any further than the barrier at the end of the Centrica site. The chap who runs the cafe told me (something along the lines of, I can't remember exactly) that they put it across the road as a precautionary measure when a dredger was working alongside the jetty a few years ago and that they just hadn't bothered to remove it when the work was completed.
Oh well! I'll try again in September...
Third time lucky!

I think the barrier may well still be there for vehicles, but you can park up near the Zoo Cafe and just have a nice walk down there.

but you can park up near the Zoo Cafe No I can't... I can't drive! I'll be walking from my hotel. I've wandered down to Heysham every time I've been in Morecambe. I really like that part of the prom, and I'll never tire of the view I see when I step up on to the Barrows next to St. Patrick's Chapel.
