Sunday, July 24 · 12:00pm - 4:00pm - Morecambe's 9th Annual Kite Festival Featuring music, kites and workshops all with a theme on the 'Birds of the Bay'. Hope the weather is dry and sunny with plenty of wind for those kites. Come along and join in the fun!  |

We managed to have a wander down to the Kite Festival and took a few pictures. It was very busy. Tentacles  The Hat Man - he was very good  Plenty of kites  Big Dog  Invasion of the inflatable creatures  Flying diver  Giant crab  Multi coloured thing  Demon stunt kite flyer  Cows and horses on the stone jetty  Jumping the cafe  Holy cow!  Promenade streamers  The More Music mob at the Midland  The Midland getting into the swing of things  Getting all Arty Farty now  Once upon a time there was a Dome here.  Sand sculptures in aid of Help For Heroes  This gull was hovering over a family as they ate sandwiches.  There's trees growing on the beach now.  |

Hi Keith.
What wonderful pictures, and a nice bit of sunshine as well. Certainly many people have made a tremendous effort with their choice of kites, or even made them themselves.

Hi, I am David Holt and I helped to organise the festival along with More Music. Thanks for the comments and great pictures Keith. The dog, horse and Wallace and Gromit kite are my own design and I was flying them on the day along with the cows. If possible I would love to use some of these images for promotion of the event. I had been telling my hubby about the time I was in Morecombe when the Moby Dick and Hotel was hit by lightening and burnt down. My parents, sister and myself had just come off the Moby Dick when lightening stuck
