Formerly The Madidson, at 35 Marine Road West, I'd recommend Caroline and her husband really make you welcome, and if you get a seaward room, the views can be amazing. Their phone number is 01524 426596 or get them at: www.morecambebayguesthouse.co.uk/index.html

Thanks for the recommendation Andrew. Another one to put on our list for when we want to stay in Morecambe overnight again.
I can imagine the views and would certainly opt for a seaward room if one was available.

You get views from Barrow to the Cumbrian Mountains, round to at least Hest Bank. I'll dig them out sometime. They are also in the MSN site ILOVEMORECAMBE, if I'm allowed to mention that.

Hi Andrew. The pictures would be very welcome, especially to us who cannot walk down the Prom now. It is strange that when you are there you do not appreciate the views etc. But when you are unable to see places you have lived in, it makes you just a little homesick. The sunshine makes up for an awful lot though. Regards Trev...(14.4c outside)

I'll need to have a quick sort out of stuff, my laptop got ruined at the weekend and I may have lost a lot of photo's. It most likely is repairable. I'm having to remember all the groups I was in and re-log in.

Oh dear, how ruined is ruined? What happened to it? Is it possible to salvage your harddrive? It's such a shame when you lose photos, especially ones that cannot be replaced. I lost a lot of documents off an old computer once and many poems which a now deceased family member had written. I was really sorry to have lost those.

It always surprises me that you can have a problem with a computer, and when you take it to the shop they say you have lost loads of stuff. It has happened to us here. But if you are 'Naughty' on your computer and you ERASE EVERYTHING, but the police are involved..... They say that they can find out whatever you have had on your computer. Maybe next time we are told we have lost stuff off the computer, we should take round to the police Regards. Trev..

There are all kinds of activity logs on computers but they rely on the file system being intact. If the file system is damaged in some way, the data is still on the drive but the system does not know where it is. When you delete a file off your computer, the actual file information is not removed. The pointers to where that data starts and ends are removed from the list of files (File Allocation Table). When 'the experts' recover data they look for file headers and get the information back that way. They have programs which automatically detect certain types of file headers and recreate the original file. It would depend on what you mean by ruined. A hard drive is a very robust item but there is a limit to what it can withstand.

I'll be in Morecambe again this weekend (Saturday - Tuesday) and visiting the same hotel (it's actually the Morecambe Bay Guest House, sorry about that!!), which I've seen through 4 sets of owners, I can't remember who had it before Chris and Renee, then Steve and Ted, now Caroline and her husband (I still can't remember his name, David rings something) If I had the money I'd buy it myself :0)
I'm hoping for a bit of snow! There has been plenty here in Ayrshire over the past 3 days.

I've modified the topic name y the right name of the guest house. Thank you to Caroline, her husband Pat and her family for another enjoyable vist this weekend, for their hospitality to my girfriend Paula and her parents and I. I couldn't get decent pictures from the room as next door had scaffolding up which blocked some of the view (towards the stone jetty). Saturday and Sunday were bitterly cold, as was Monday, Tuesday was glorious sunshine, just a pity it was the day we had to go home. Sitting outside on the jetty with tea and cakes in the sun was bliss as well! We will be back in the company of Caroline and her family next month. I can't get into Morecambe as often as before, but wish I could. www.morecambebayguesthouse.co.uk/index.html
