If you live in Morecambe and don't receive a polling card in good time, don't blame me. I didn't ask for a bag of a few hundred polling cards to be left around the back of my house. They'll be going back to the town hall on Monday.

Have you considered contacting the Nationals? That is a disgrace. It is the sort of thing which happens in Uganda. Presumably with names and addresses on them? Maybe we should email somebody on the council, or mention it to one of our councillors on the forum, or bring it up at the next steering group, or ask www.lancaster.gov.duntwork to pass on our concerns. I think you should keep them, register as a representative of the 'P**s Up in a Brewery Party' and vote for yourself. Beating Labour into last place would make National Headlines, then you could go for the 'We Can See Barrow Docks From Our Dusty Balcony' Party.

The person they were intended for collected them this morning. Our local paper is so useless they don't have voicemail on their editorial desk number and emails sent to the address published on their web site bounce otherwise they'd have had a nice little story.
Yes, full names, addresses and all the usual stuff on a polling card. Enough to have screwed up an election if I hadn't been the honest citizen. I'll be contacting the election office on Monday to make a formal complaint.
You actually think a councillor would get back to me if I contacted them ;D ;D ;D

There is always a first time - maybe not in this case.

That is absolutely appalling Brian. You should have taken a photograph of them at least and informed the newspapers. For all we know similar things could be happening elsewhere in the country. It's unbelievable. I know we can go along to our polling station without the cards and they just ask our name and address - makes you wonder how many people turn up and claim to be somebody they know has no intention of voting. With a card to 'prove' they were the other person they'd be well away.

I've got a photo and I tied to contact the Visitor but no one answered and they didn't have voicemail on their published editorial number. Emails to their published email address bounced instantly. Their loss.
Just for the record, the photo I took is of the bag and although you can see there are cards inside, no details are visible.

The photo is still valid if it clearly shows that they are polling cards. Have you sent one to the political parties? You know how they want to win points off each other.

Oh I know the photo is valid but I've intentionally not recorded anyone's personal details, that would be as bad as leaving them round the back of someone's house. The emails I've had from the democratic team confirm the sequence of events. They've acted very quickly with prompt replies and action so for now I'm dropping it. I can fault them on the initial issue but their response to it has been better than expected.

At least someone realises the seriousness of the situation.
When I said, 'clearly shows that they are polling cards', I meant that they looked like official polling cards rather than some propaganda leaflets.
