For somewhere so close, it's a fairly poor public transport service. There's a #42 bus service between Blackpool and Lancaster but it's 1h30m then a wait for a bus to Morecambe. Trains aren't much better with changes at Preston and Lancaster. www.traveline-northwest.co.uk/cms/welcome.xhtml

We usually have a day out to Blackpool by bus on our once yearly, so doing it in the other direction should be no problem Sit on the upper deck, and watch the beautiful countryside and village life pass by at a relaxed pace. Trains aren't likely to be any quicker if you have to change at Preston and Lancaster.
A dramatic way to hit Morecambe Prom is to get either the No.3 or No.4 bus from Lancaster Bus Station. When the bus gets to Westgate it turns off for Bare, and hits the Prom at the end of Princes Crescent. It travels all the way west to the Battery, and then on to Heysham. Get off at the Battery, and use that as the start point to explore.

Have they been yet Tommy? It would be a shame if they could get as close as Blackpool and have to miss Morecambe. I remember when I was younger and we relied on public transport the two resorts seemed worlds apart.
