What an absolutely brilliant evening
And what a great performer! Such amazing energy and drive and WOW what guitar playing! I don't think I have enjoyed myelf so much in a long time.
We had a front row seat, bit of a squash for large sized people sitting next to other large sized people though. Never seem to have a problem like that at the Dome. I know those seats have to be clipped together or they would end up all over the place and not in the rows but they do seem to be quite small.
It was great to be able to mime along to all the well-known favourite oldies but also brilliant to hear some amazing new stuff. DL praised the song writing talents of Shel Silverstein but he doesn't do a bad job of it himself with some great storytelling lyrics. I particularly love the sly digs of a divorce at the ex-wife in "Ask Her"
After the concert DL was very friendly and chatty with us when signing autographs. (I got two photos signed and he put a little heart on them which amused my daughter this morning) He seemed to have really enjoyed doing the show. He said some of the guitar 'ad libbing' took him by surprise as he was just enjoying it so much the guitar 'kinda took over' and he just followed.
How the heck he manages to have so much energy I wish I knew - and some of that guitar playing seemed almost impossible the way he got 2 chords and melody notes out of one instrument all at the same time I will never know.
Typically neither Coachman nor I remembered to take our cameras and so we couldn't get a decent photo, only one slightly fuzzy one taken by coachman with my phone. And equally typically I had put my phone in my bag in the 'safe' zipped section inside at the back but didn't know that there was a hole in the lining so the phone had slipped down between the lining and the outer material of the bag. Dennis Locorriere patiently waited whilst I ferretted about down the lining trying to find it so we could have a photo together!
After all that the photo is slightly fuzzy though but I'm keeping it on my phone. The autographed ones are now in frames.
Another one of those 'it only happens to us' type things typically occurred too but this time it was to Coachman not to me. we got a couple of ice creams in the interval - Magnum the ice cream on a stick. Except Coachman's wasn't on a stick!!! ;D
Ron, we looked for someone at the back in black but there seemed to be more than one person and we weren't sure if any of them were you.
