Don't forget the Sandcastle Competition is on tomorrow (Sunday) on Morecambe seafront. It starts around 11am and will finish around 3pm. We'll be there with our cameras. esm xx

Hi ESM. Thanks for putting the reminder on. I hope that it is a good day for it. I have just viewed Liverpool and Douglas and it seems to be raining . I will keep my fingers crossed for you all.
I hope you will have time to post some of you pics.
Best wishes. Trev..

What a shame there aren't more photos in the Vistor. Did any BayWebbers take any?

Sadly there were only three professional sculptures. The amatuer ones on the beach had virtually blown away. I did take some pics, but they are not discernible. Here are the three.

Thanks for the pictures ESM. It is a shame that it was not a better day. At least the sand sculptures would raise a smile.
Better pics than the 'Visitor' on line.
Cheers. Trev..

Fanks Trev. I was disappointed they only showed the abstract of Ken Dodd. That was the only one I didn't like much. esm xx

It looks like the professionals had a different type of sand to that which is down on the beach. It's probably easier to sculpt with and holds together better. Bit unfair on the amatuers really. When we saw some sand sculpting on the east coast a few years ago they were down on the regular beach using the ordinary sand. Having said that though, those sculptures are really impressive. Thanks for the photos Esm.

Yes you are correct Willow. The professionals had builders sand that was brought in specially. The poor bods on the beach didn't stand a chance, it was really breezy and the sand was dry. Look... This was an excellent car, but the wind had virtually destroyed it as soon as it was built.

Yes that one looks like it had been really worked on and such a shame that the wind got the better of it. The sand really does need to be just the right consistency to hold together properly.
