We parked at the Bull Beck Picnic site near Caton and did a circular walk from there. It was a warm day and the climb up to the wind farm was a warm affair. The area was teeming with grouse who startled us on numerous occasions. These feeders are here to fatten them up. The path was a bit rough in places following the heavy rain. The sad site of the closed clay quarry which fed Claughton Brick Works. It may reopen if the building industry picks up. One of the aerial ropeway towers - the ropeway was used to transport clay down to the brick works. The only slight hitch to our walk was the washed away foot bridge. We had a choice of going back the way we came or getting our feet wet. We chose the wet feet option. It would have been a different ball game if the river level had been higher. The water was only about 6 inches deep here. Full story and many more pictures here www.studiosoft.co.uk/cgi-bin/makepage.cgi?call=imgall&fluff=pick&story=caton2&mentit=Caton Wind Farm Circular&

Thanks for the short story and Pictures Keith. I think that I can see the Power stations in the back ground. I have not been up to the ropeway but I have seen it when it was transporting buckets over Caton road.
I too would have braved it through the (shallow) water.
Regards. Trev..
