Problem with us out of towners is I don't think we know enough about what actually happens in local politics.

Local "politics" has become a joke.
The main problem are the MBIs, first they were voted into the city council with a promise to support the bypass then vote against it.
Then they gather enough signatures to get a Morecambe Parish Council formed by telling people it won't cost any more only to see a £220K surplus added to Morecambe residents to cover the cost of the parish council.
Finally their leader, Dame Archer, is interviewed and says the money will go to the town. Well, what's left of it after we've paid for a town clerk and his new offices in the town centre. No doubt there'll be plenty of expense claims as well leaving a few pennies to pay for the tractors to put the sand back on the beach.
And you wonder why I'm so bitter.

I see that Dame Archer is standing in the Parish Council elections for the Poulton Ward. One of their slogans is:- "Only a MBI Councillor will work for the best interests of Morecambe".She can do that now without this extra tier of red tape. Another slogan is:- They will not receive any wage or allowance for this work. What? - Nothing It is not just the out of towners who do not know what is going on, local people are not told much either. I have been waiting for someone to knock on my door so I can ask them a few questions but our views are not considered that important. What decisions will the Parish Council be allowed to take? Will they have a budget or have to ask Lancaster City Council for pocket money? Most important - According to another of the MBI blurb sheets, they are opposed to the Bypass, yet they say they are the best group to promote the town - they are clearly confused and out of touch. None of the main stream parties are any better so as for who to vote for?

They have £220,000 of our money to play with funded by a surcharge on Morecambe residents council tax, that's £19 for a Band C house owner. That will all go towards improving Morecambe but sadly in order to improve Morecambe first of all we have to employ a town clerk and find him new offices in the town centre. That comes out of the £220,000. Where did you get the MBI comments from? They've put nothing through my door? So much for "People before Politics"
