That sounds like it could be a really exciting idea. I wonder if it will ever get beyond the wishful thinking stage.

That sounds like it could be a really exciting idea. I wonder if it will ever get beyond the wishful thinking stage. I am sorry but I very much doubt that it will get off the ground. When they mention Heysham, I wonder do they mean Heysham Harbour. There are no ready facilities for passengers to embark and disembark from a small ferry boat. I think the same may be said for Barrow. Fleetwood may be a little better in this respect as it already has a small ferry boat docking there. I think it is a good idea but that it will fail on the costings. Trev..

A special excursion by steam train starting at Lancaster. Carnforth and over to Hellifield via Wennington. Hellifield to Carlisle via the scenic Settle & Carlisle railway. Carlisle to Barrow down the fabulous West Coast of the Lake District. Paddle Steamer to Heysham Old Diesel hauled special from Heysham to Morecambe and then to Lancaster. This unique trip would be expensive but would be a day to remember for rail enthusiasts everywhere. Is the Hogwart's Express still based at Carnforth?

Well they did used to do trips around the bay, and I think they sailed from Clock tower It may be the Harbour but I doubt it, a little ferry boat and One of the Clippers going head to head wouldn't make for a smoth ride I would probably go for that sheltered path\ slipway at the bottom of Barrows lane that leads down to the beach, or they could use Halfmoon Bay Ian

Hi Ian. Re I would probably go for that sheltered path\ slipway at the bottom of Barrows lane that leads down to the beach, or they could use Halfmoon Bay
If it was a very small ( shallow draught) boat then they could perhaps put steps up to it, but I doubt it. And to use the sands would mean I think, that it would be a tide controlled trip.
I wish the idea al the best in the world........ But I can't see it myself, sorry.

I never knew that - where's Tim so we can as him? I thought it was based somewhere up in Scotland, that's where we came across it a couple of years ago.
