There was something on the radio this morning about those paper balloons being reported as UFOs and I wondered at the time about just how much pollution they cause. There are metal bits, could they be a danger to wildlife and farm animals?

Crikey have you seen the size of some of those UFO balloons? I didn't realise they were so big.

Okay have my pics of the Winter Gardens all ready to go on my desk top but can't figure how to connect them to the website. By the way where I live in Gulf Breeze, Florida we are the UFO capital of the USA. HUGE documentaries done here. Locals sold their stories for a couple of millions. Others sold the film rights for a small fortune. Robert Stack the old movie star came and filmed here for his Unexplained Mysteries series. Plain daft. All the fuss was from outside a home 2 streets away from me,that a friend of mine later purchased, and when they had the wiring checked in the attic found models of UFO's done on draftsmans paper. One of the guys who made a fortune was a builder. Figure that one out! Jean

I have never been conned by all this UFO stuff. I am not saying that there isn't life on other planets but I don't think anyone has visited us. I look at it this way, an intelligent race visits us and has a look around. If they were friendly they would make friends with us. If the weren't, they would destroy us. Unless they took one look, saw that we liked to kill and maim each other and went away again.

I do think there is life on other planets. I don't think they are necessarily all that interested in us and waste all their waking hours observing our antics but they might watch us from time to time out of curiosity in much the way we would visit a zoo, or perhaps a better analogy is the way tourists go on exotic holidays and observe the 'local native culture'. When we went to Tunisia for example we visited troglodite dwellings and watched a Berber woman grinding corn and others weaving carpets. I do not think they are little green men from Mars with aerials sticking out of their heads, or even the famous "greys" with the big almond eyes. If there's anybody out there I reckon they are pretty much like us and probably so much so that if one walked down Marine Road or stopped for a cuppa at the cafe on the Stone Jetty we wouldn't even bat an eyelid.

Oh and yes Jean, it does sound like someone round your way had a bright idea of how to make some money and everyone fell for it including the TV station which made the 'Unexplained Mysteries' series. At least the mystery is now explained - was the explanation ever publicised?

In an infinite ammount of space with an infinity of time there are infinite possibilities of everything being possible and everything already having been possible, actually have already happened.
In other words if we have not been visited by Aliens then at some point in the past, present, future or other dimension us or another planet like us has either been visited by or have visted an alien race.
In my opinion this world is far too young and distant from any other planet with a viable atmosphere to harbour life to have been visited. for another planets inhabitant's to have evolved to the point at which they can travel the distances involved would be the first big hurdle. Secondly they would have to find us! now in terms of the infinite time scale of space we are just a blip in time and the light from solar system may only be just getting to the closet planet that harbours life. Thirdly if they have spotted us and are on their way it could take 1000's of years at light speed to get here, by that time the effects of mankind on the earths eco system will mean there'll be nowt here when thet eventually arrive anyway!
There are however other possibilities that are often covered in a BBC factual science programme called DR.WHO such as Time travel, Voids, Black holes, and the Tardis that could mean Aliens are walking amongst us as we speak.

YES. THERE WERE BIG FOLLOW UPS IN THE PRESS. EVEN A TEENAGER WHO STEPPED FORWARD TO SAY HE HUNG THE MODELS WHILE THE GUY TOOK PHOTOGRAPHS OF THEM BUT NO ONE WAS PULLED ON THE CARPET FOR IT AND "THE MUFONS" AS THEY CALL THEMSELVES STILL GET A BIG FOLLOWING EVERY YEAR FROM THE OTHER "ALIENS" OUT THERE. I WAS EVEN DAFT ENOUGH TO GO OUT AND WATCH THEM FILMING A COUPLE OF TIMES. BUT THEN AGAIN IT IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND I TOOK MY DECK CHAIR A COUPLE OF DRINKS AND LAUGHED ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE. EVERYONE THOUGHT THEY SPOTTED SOMETHING, MAYBE A COUPLE OF DRUNKEN PELICANS COMING HOME AFTER A GOOD LAUGH AT WATCHING US BATTY LOT!

Thank you for the info on putting up the pics. When I get through the rest of this crazy week I will sit at the weekend and have another go. Looks simple enough IF I follow the directions step by step. Is this Willow I am answering? I get a bit confused over who is who, and who is answering who Thanks! Jean

Yes this is Willow you're answering . I'm sure you'll soon get the hang of it. I do tend to waffle a bit at times hence the subtitle. I look forward to seeing your photos. Oh, just another thought. Try not to make them too big or they tend to stretch the page width of the forum and people have to scroll sideways. 700 pixels seems to be a fairly compatible width for most people.
