It never dawned on me that you would be having a different Easter in Cyprus. Is this to do with the Greek Orthodox church?
Those chickens are HUGE! ;D

Hi All. Well a wonderful sunny day here. It is already +18c in the shade up here in the hills. Re Kentucky Fried Chicken Yes we have them here although I know what you were referring to Ian. When we first arrived Hilary was very keen to have a meal at a K F C. We had one......... It has cured her, she will not bothered again. It is nowhere near the UK taste and texture. Yes Willow, Easter is next weekend over here and it must be to do with the Greek Orthodox Church, although I am not particularly 'up' with religious festivals. It is the biggest celebration of the year here complete with fireworks after midnight church. And just like fireworks in the UK they are going off days before and after as well. And yes the big chicks do lay big eggs. They last a long time though ;D Cheers. Trev..

Well it's been sunny here today too but I have been DIYing so no chance of enjoying it. I have been chopping up some MDF outside and fine weather makes cutting it with my jigsaw a lot safer! Perhaps I should start a thread about DIY as since coming into this house, I have almost rebuilt it, it was owned by an old lady who had not done anything to it since it was built in 1940 ish.
Re. Easter. We are getting together as a family next weekend for Easter and to celebrate a Birthday as work didn't allow us to be together this weekend.
Happy Easter any way - when ever you celebrate it.

As we can all see from you D I Y pictures Keith, you are bringing this into a different decade. I just wanted to post a few pics that I have taken today. As Ian said the eggs must be big........ and they are. The first 3 pics are of the Easter decorations dotted all over the towns and villages. Then I thought I would take a picture of the 'London' tour bus. I have also included a shot of the pamphlet that was in our letter box, telling us of the village festivities next weekend. Look at the raffle prize................. Have a good Easter........ Trev..

It has been quite a pleasant day today but the sun is not as bright up here in Scotland as it was back in Lancashire and there is still snow up on the mountain peaks.

Well I thought that I would update my post about Cyprus, if only because I have some more pictures. My wife is back from the UK now, so eating is not such a spartan affair. Plus the washing is getting ironed now. The cat has been ill with 'cat flu' (good job he's not a pig!!). But he is fit and well again now after numerous visits to the vets. I took him to the vets 5 times and each visit he had 2 injections of antibiotics. The bill was €50 which is about £45. I thought that was quite a reasonable charge. I am on a number of forums and one is in the Paphos area of Cyprus. People ask about various items of life here including property. I like to help if I can by taking pictures and sending them via Email to those in the UK. I have made a number of friends by doing this, and some are here at the moment from the North of Scotland. Last Sunday they took us out for a Sunday lunch at a taverna. And the following evening they came to our house for an evening meal. This is what friends are for..... The weather here has still not made it's mind up that it is summer. We are still getting some days with dark clouds. When we went to Paphos (sea level) last night for a meal they had heaters on in the restaurant. I will stop the waffling now and add some of the pictures that I took yesterday (Thursday). As you can see the sun does shine sometimes here. By the way..... Re my impending visit to the Morecambe area. If you remember I was let down with car hire when 1car1 went out of business. Well I have now booked with 'Enterprise' from Manchester airport. Hilary used them when she was in the UK a few weeks ago, although it was the Morecambe branch she used. They very kindly offered a 10% discount on the next car hire. And better still, the Morecambe office organised that I could use that from the Manchester Airport branch. So 13 days car hire is costing me £187, which is a very good price indeed. And another plus point is that you do not have to pay until you collect the car. So there you are, all up to date...... Cheerio for now. Regards. Trev..

Lovely photos Trev. Not many people on the sun loungers though so it must be a bit chilly. Similar to here possibly.
Small world isn't it as we were up in the Highlands of Scotland the week after Easter and there you are having dinner with people from somewhere near the same area. Isn't it great how the internet brings people together?
Glad to hear you've got your car hire sorted out for when you come over. That sounds like a very helpful firm.

Hi Willow. I think the recognised reason for a shortage of people is twofold. One money is tight is the UK and in other places. Two, the rate of exchange between the Euro and the UK£ is quite bad at the moment. And Keith. Yes I have seen that Ad: ;D I doubt they would collect me from here. If they would, I bet there would be a lot of volunteer drivers. I wanted to save money so I booked the smallest car that they advertise. That was a Ford Ka. However they have already said that it will be a Corsa. I don't think they have any Ford Ka's, as they did the same for my wife. Regards. Trev..

I reckon £187 is good value actually as I seem to remember paying something like that for a Metro many years ago when I invaded Norfolk. Raping and pillaging is very difficult in a small car so it might be best if you just visited people in a friendly manner. Be sure to add us to your diary as we would love to meet up with you at some point during your friendly invasion.

Just to put a damper on your super sunny Cyprus thread Trev, has there been much talk about Brits losing their homes out there? You rent your property so hopefully, you and the family won't be affected, but - - Here is the story from the Daily Mail
