Hi Bondee, long time no hear from. Hello keef. Haven't been around because I haven't been too well lately. My old "friend" the black dog reappeared and bit my backside again. Nice to know I was missed though! ;D I remember looking upwards and thinking, "This is making me feel dizzy. I should look away... but they're soooooooo hypnotic!" At which point I fell flat on my back at the base of the tower and took the second of the above pictures. This one was taken from slightly further up the hill... (link to bigger version of the same so you can see it in more detail)I'm planning to go up there again when I visit the area in September. If you haven't made the journey by then, maybe we could make a "mini forum meet" out of it if anyone else is interested?

Sorry to hear you ain't been too good although references to friendly black dogs is obviously a nautical term which us lan lubbers don't understand. Sorry about this but that is not the same place that we visited, there are cows, wind turbines and a superb view of Morecambe Bay, not the same place at all It is not easy to make out the detail in the distance, I think it may warrant taking the tripod when we next go, I usually have a mono but I think it is belt and braces. I think a good time up there would be sunset but the road down would not be good in the dark, particularly the double hairpin which is easily missed on the map. As for a venue for a Bayweb meet, I could think of a much better location than a windy hillside miles from civiliastion.

Think along Churchillian lines rather than nautical.
I'd love to go up there at sunset, but the thought of the walk back down Quarry Road in the dark doesn't exactly fill me with joy. It's beautiful during the day, I deliberately dawdled when I was walking up there on the day that I took the photos, but city boy here wouldn't feel too comfortable up there at night.
Start and end it in The Black Bull in Brookhouse with a circular walk up to the turbines, as you'd planned, inbetween! It's just a thought. Might be nice if it happens, but no problem if it doesn't. If I remember I'll mention it again when I've booked my holiday.

I agree about walking down Quarry Rd in the dark, not particularly frightened but walking in the dark is not the most enjoyable thing to do. I am looking across in the direction of the turbines and can see nothing. It doesn't help that people in the house opposite have got some scaffolding up, while they have some roof work done. I should be able to see the spinny things but it is cloudy once again. I think I will have to have a trip up there next time I see them reflecting the sunshine. Getting some good sunset pictures from up there will be very much like getting decent sunset pictures from the prom. It is all a matter of right place at the right time, like waiting to get a decent sunset picture to put on a wall canvas.

It will be interesting to see your sunset pictures from up in the hills. The one that you have taken and put on your interior wall is very good. Looking at the top of your picture, do you now do haircuts???
Cheers. Trev..

That barber's pole is a fluorescent tube for Mrs Keef's serious reading habit.

That barber's pole is a fluorescent tube for Mrs Keef's serious reading habit. Well I will of course take your word for it... but it has black and white stripes. When she sits underneath it reading. does she only read every other word. Trev..

All jokes aside, as a reading light it is excellent and as Mrs Keef does a lot of reading, it is a winner.

That looks an extremely comfortable reading couch Keith. I see the remote buttons are handy as well.. I just popped to the end of our drive,as we have no upstairs rooms. and took a picture of the wind farm in the hills above Paphos Airport. It is far from a good picture because it is at least 12 kilometers from our home. Trev..

The remotes usually live on the stand to the right, on the shelf. I can tell you that the couch is very comfortable both normally and reclined. We spent an entire day, sitting on sofas and chairs in various stores before we found the right one for us. Most of the ones we sat on, we could tell right away that it was not comfortable. We have had it quite a while and it is still the comfiest thing either of us has ever sat on. Sat there, with a glass of wine, surround sound on and a program on the big telly is quite relaxing - doesn't really matter what the program is! No - actually it does, something interesting rather than some mundane soap or crappy reality tv thing. Grand Prix for me and Master Chef for Mrs Keef but not at the same time. - cheers!

All before my time, but I'm aiming to be there around 9 June 2012 So, you're going to be sat on Keith's sofa on the 9th of June. I hope they have a good programme on or a good book to read. Just make sure that you don't nod off.... it's bad manners Trev..

I wish they would take the scaffolding down as it confuses my auto focus camera.

Here is a YouTube Video from there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=20Zl8_jokG8Cheers. Trev..
