The sewer outlets mentioned were only replaced a few years back so I think it is unlikely that the situation is going to change any time soon.

What a shame that the North West is so prominent with Heysham getting third place, Morecambe second and Blackpool top spot for polluted beaches. Doesn't do a lot for the sales and promotion of shrimps or the town in general.

I remember a few years ago there was a sign on the beach saying don't allow your dog into the water to avoid contamination - a woman walking her dog commented that she wondered whether they meant contamination of the water or of the dog.
