Just out of curi idleosity, do any pubs open before 11am in either Morecambe or Lancaster? When I come down in May, I have a humungus wait in Lancaster before my much beloved meets me in Lancaster. She has only Runcorn to travel from, but I'm letting her have a lie in. I'll be in Lancaster at 9.37, she won't be leaving Runcorn until 11.00.

Most Wetherspoons open at 0700 for breakfast. I think they can start selling booze from 0900. Two In Lancaster and one in Morecambe (but I suppose you already know that).

IIRC the bar at the prom end of West End Road (Breezers?) opens at some ridiculously early hour like 6am.

Haven't been there for a while but I seem to recall the Eric Bartholomew was open in the mornings.

Thank you for the answers. I'm not actually sure where the Wetherspoons are in Lancaster, although I'll probably know the street names when I read them. As for 'ridiculously early' I don't mind pubs opening early when I'm nightshifts, as I can't go to a pub after my dinner, then go to work. Like others I like to go to a pub, go home, then go to bed, just not at night. I often stay up until near lunchtime.

I'm not actually sure where the Wetherspoons are in Lancaster, although I'll probably know the street names ..... The Green Ayre is at the very bottom of Lower Penny Street, just before the left-hand turning onto Damside Street (bus station). The Sir Richard Owen is on Spring Garden Street, almost next door to the new Travel Lodge.

Thank you for those. The Green Ayre by taxi will be closer. Alcohol laws in Scotland are different even with Wetherspoons, and the website doesn't tell you.

Well, you know how us Scots like our beer....
In Scotland, even if shops that sell alchohol are open after 10pm, they can't sell alcohol after then. I rushed to Tesco on Heysham Road one night to be there for 10, only to find out the can sell alcohol until they close at 11. The same goes for when drink can go on sale in the morning. I'm not sure of the weather situation for tomorrow, but hopefully it won't be too bad. I may need a hostellry, just to keep warm, and sample some of their fine ales by way of a thank you....

Sadly, no, and it wasn't my fault. I tried to get off the train at Lancaster, with my luggage, but it is becoming increasingly popular for people to try and board trains when people are trying to get off. Someone in front of me hit the 'close' button just before I got to the door, I went to open it, but the driver closed it again, and I ended up in Preston! I was only there about 10 minutes and came back. It has become one of my pet hates (it doesn't just happen here) when people try to board when others are trying to get off, or people on the platform won't stand back so I 'just have to' hit them with my suitcase, and it's 'my fault'. They have the width of the platform, we only have the width of the train door.
I went to the Gordon Club, quite a difference, i.e busy. When I was here before they blamed the smoking 'ban' on it's decline, now it is buzzing and more family orientated. £5 for 5 years membership, or free for me because an 'old member' is a bargain.
My surname happens to be the club name, and one of my fondest memories of the old place was the then secretary asking for my surname, then spelling it wrong!

Hi Peter. Although I never went in it, the 'Hatch Club' was in a basement on Sandylands Promenade if I remember correctly.

Yes - that's it.
They used to serve sandwiches at closing time and keep serving after hours (sandwiches = substantial meal) claiming they were a restaurant.
At the time I worked behind the bar at The Broadway and used to go on to The Hatch Club.
