I wouldn't want to live in one of those remote farms. Think of all that cheap wine

It looks beautifully sunny Peter. Is it chilly or warm?

We have a northerly breeze, so a bit chilly overnight, then warming up during the day. Approx max 13C, min 3C
Without the breeze it is around max17C, min 5C
Off for a walk on the beach with the dog.
Yuletide greetings to all.
Peter

We had 20C on 1st January, but had the first real frost this morning.
Our roof was white - the neighbours wasn't - so the insulation we installed last year is working.
Forecast for the next few days is clear skies, max 12C - 15C and minimum 2C - 5C. Looks beautiful, but wear a fleece !
The local paper says that Montpellier had one recorded temp below 0C in 2011. We are a bit further from the coast, so slightly cooler - probably 4 or 5 days below freezing in 2011.

Are there no speed limits?

The limit is 30 or 50km/h in a built up area, then 90km/h on open roads with 110 km/h on dual carriageways if signposted. So, we can assume that when his speedo was showing 299km/h he was exceeding one of these limits ! In fact, it looked as if his speedo was limited to a max of 299 km/h. 299 km/h is about 188mph. It is the speed the TGV cruises at. There has been a lot of these sort of clips shown on Youtube and the authorities are stamping down. This guy - www.midilibre.fr/2012/01/11/il-se-filmait-a-299-km-h-et-le-diffusait-sur-le-net,442350.php - has been found guilty and sent to the assizes for sentencing. Peter

It doesn't take much for the fun to end, a tractors with trailers can be quite a show stopper.

My local town - The Sommieres Tourist Office has updated its website for 2012 : ot-sommieres.frAs part of the update they have made a video clip of the attractions of the area. It has no text or description, so just watch and enjoy : www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCjI0NcOl08They have also installed a webcam from the tourist office facing the river and roman bridge. The link is www.ot-sommieres.fr/camera.php and the image looks like this : The white building on the other side of the river is the back of the cinema : www.levenise.com and at night it has a blue sign. Next to the roman bridge on the other side of the river is the creperie : www.leskorrigansduvidourle.fr which has a shaded terrace.

Peter, do you know of a town or area called Jartaud? I spotted a cute little house on the internet but can't seem to find the place on Google earth.
