 Evenin' all!

How do!

My name is Bond, Steve Bond.

I'm from Staines in Middlesex, but I'm currently on holiday (for the fourth year running) in Morecambe. I have family and work connections to the town.

First up, family... My grandad, mum and aunty were all born here. My grandad Jack Bond, in Croft Street, mum, Carol, at Queen Victoria hospital and aunty, Patricia (aka Jean) in Langdale Road. If any of you are fans of The Shrimps who own a copy of "The Light at the End of the Tunnel: A Potted History of Morecambe FC" take a look at the bottom of page 22/top of page 23, in particular Eric and Jack Bond. Eric was my grandad's cousin, Jack was my great-grandad.

I'd love to hear from anyone who knew my family when they still lived in the area.

With regards to work... Next time you're on the prom, look up at the hills above Lancaster, across the bay or out on to the bay... See those wind turbines? There's at least 1 of what I make on each of them. I make the anemometers (wind sensors) and I'm very proud of the fact that my work is visible from the place I call my family home.

I'd like to move to the area, indeed I intend to do just that as soon as I can afford to.

I don't really believe in inherited memories or anything like that, but Morecambe is the only place I've ever had one of those "My God! I f*#king LOVE life!" moments.

If any of you see a scruffy, long-haired idiot out and about in the area in the next few days, say hello. It might be me!

edit: spelling

Why hello Mr Bond!
Nice to have you aboard.

I think I may have bumped into you today near to the Stone Jetty, then again down the side of the Midland, again near the Market and then finally outside the Winter gardens.

I seem to have bumped into a lot of long haired, scruffy people today.

I wasn't actually in the town much today, I took a walk up to Hest Bank and then back to Lancaster along the canal.

If one of said scruffs was wearing a t-shirt with this...

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum.

I know what you mean about the way Morecambe makes you feel. To me it's just walking along the prom and looking out across the bay that does that for me. We haven't been able to get up there as much as we would like to this year one way and another and I'm beginning to get withdrawal symptoms.

Good luck with your plans to move.
